CM’s support for Patra angers Nasiruddin’s widow

DHANEKHALI, 30 JUNE: Manuja Bibi, the widow of Sheikh Nasiruddin, a Trinamul activist who died in police custody, today said that she was surprised at the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s supportive remarks for Dhanekhali MLA Ashima Patra in a meeting at Pandua.
Manuja had fought against all odds to get the apex court verdict in favour of a CBI investigation into her husband&’s custodial death.
Nasiruddin, a devoted TMC worker from Dhanekhali developed differences with Mrs Patra on various decisions regarding the party. 
Manuja alleged that Ashima Patra and the then OC of Dhanekhali, Barun Ghosh, had got planned her husband’s death in police custody.
Manuja has been demanding arrests for Patra and Mr Ghosh, besides demanding a CBI investigation into the death. Recently the Apex court ruled in favour of a CBI investigation.
Miss Banerjee in a public meeting at Mahanad School ground at Pandua sopke supporting Ashima Patra, who is under the CBI lens. When contacted Manuja said: "I am shocked at the CM’s remarks for Ashima Patra. She said that she will always stand by Patra. The CM, who claimes to have great concerns for Muslims, has disregarded the grief of a widow. She os only concerned about her vote-bank." Mr Abdul Mannan, the Congress leader, calling the CM’s remarks for Patra as "most unfortunate" said that Miss Banerjee should have had greater concern for the woman.  sns
