Presi standoff: Protesters wait for recommendations

The students of Presidency University on Monday claimed that they were yet to receive the recommendations from the university authorities as they have already sent a written proposal regarding their demand.

The university authorities were supposed to provide the recommendations on Monday and according to the officials, since the VC was busy on Monday with some work they have decided to provide all the information to the agitating students on Tuesday.

The students said that they are going to continue their silent protest on the campus until the authorities provide the information demanded.

Meanwhile, the students on Monday organised a convention inside the campus, where the alumni of Presidency University have joined hands and supported the students in their agitation.

On 27 August students submitted in writing to the university authorities stating that they were not going to listen to the members of the committee unless they publish a white paper on the reason behind so many teachers and officials leaving Presidency University. They had also demanded the relieving letters of the professors who are associated with the university but still drawing salaries from state government colleges.

The students also demanded that the authorities should publish a white paper on the incident of 10 April at Presidency University after the Baker Laboratory was vandalised. They also demanded that the university authorities should issue a statement as to why the students were assaulted by the police on 21 August when the chief minister was invited to the convocation ceremony.
