KOLKATA, 30 JUNE: Rainfall or thundershowers will continue in the state for the next 24 hours while there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall in the gangetic West Bengal, according to the Alipore Meteorological Department.
According to the Met department officials, a monsoon trough prevails over the Gangetic states and it has become active as there is a low pressure in east Uttar Pradesh and at the same time a cyclonic circulation has developed in the state. As a result moisture inflow has been on the rise.
Heavy rain would occur at isolated places over Bihar and sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
Maximum and minimum temperature in the next 24 hours will be around 28 degree and 25 degree Celsius respectively. Under the influence of moderate to strong monsoon current, strong Westerly wind speed exceeding 45 kmph and generally rough seas are likely along and off the coast of West Bengal.
Moderate to strong monsoon current, strong southwesterly wind speed exceeding 45 kmph would also be experienced at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Fishermen have been asked not to venture out into the sea as thunder shower and heavy rainfall may occur. Around 600 out of 1200 trawlers, which were out to the sea, returned to Digha safely this morning. The remaining trawlers reached the nearest sea shores.
