401 young officers join Army after graduating from IMA

Four-hundred-and-one new officers joined the Army after graduating from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun on Saturday.
The smart march-past by Gentlemen Cadets, in the backdrop of the famous Chetwood building, left the audience spellbound.
Moving on the  tunes of `Col Bogey’ and `Sare Jahan Se Achha,’ the Gentlemen Cadets showed tremendous enthusiasm, vigor and zeal to put up an excellent parade before the reviewing officer Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. N.P.S Hira.
Addressing the cadets, Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. N.P.S Hira said, “You are receiving your commission at a time when the world is facing threats of an asymmetric nature. Emergence of non-state actors and extreme entities is definitely going to be a serious challenge for the future”.
“In the face of such testing times one needs to be professionally competent and ready to adapt oneself to emerging technologies while facing adversities squarely with a smile. The training which you have imbibed in IMA would stand them in good stead during such times of intense challenge”.
The reviewing officer presented the coveted sword of honour to Pratyush Kumar Mohanty  and gold medal for standing first in overall order of merit to Malla Rama Gopal Naidu. 
The Chief of Army Staff Banner was awarded to Alamein Company for standing overall first amongst 16 companies for the autumn term 2016.
Uttar Pradesh with 77 officers topped the list of producing maximum number of officers among all other states in this batch.
Haryana with 46, Uttarakhand with 29 and Bihar with 28- finished second, third and fourth respectively in the all India tally of states.
Besides Indian cadets, fifty-three foreign cadets from eight friendly countries also passed out of the academy to bid adieu to India and proceed to their home land.
