With 395 fresh dengue cases, the number of people affected by the vector-borne disease has gone up to 2124 in the Capital. While official figure puts the death toll at three, independent sources say more than 10 persons have died so far this season. The North Municipal Corporation of Delhi alone reported 1026 deaths. Further, 540 cases were reported from south Paharganj and 435 cases from Karol Bagh area alone.
Meanwhile, the North Corporation has taken several measures including clinical protocol, special sanitation drive and mobile dispensaries, that will be introduced from 2 October.
These measures were taken to fight dengue and prevent its threat.
The additional commissioner, health, Mr Mayank Sharma said today in the meeting of the standing committee that the civic body has formed a team for accomplishment of massive operation in this regard.
"We are running a massive operation by forming a team of health horticulture and sanitation staff in every zone. The normal mobile vans will now focus on dengue. It will reach all vulnerable areas and the dengue patients who are incapable in moving anywhere will be treated then and there."
Under the clinical protocol, the message will be spread that the hospitals should not create a havoc of dengue if it is not required. And the test of dengue cases and platelets would be assured free of cost to the people.
