New Delhi, 31 July
To improve connectivity between the developing industrial townships of Rohtak and Hissar, Northern Railway is set to construct a new rail line from Rohtak to Hansi.
This new rail line was sanctioned in 2012-13 at an estimated cost of Rs 406.87 crore on cost-sharing basis with the Haryana government.
The railway minister, Mr Mallikarjun Kharge, laid the foundation stone for the new rail line. "Once the new broad gauge link between Rohtak to Hissar is completed, the distance will be reduced to 93.919 km, thus reducing cost of travel with corresponding reduction in travel time," said the Northern Railway spokesperson.
The spokesperson said in view of the region’s proximity to the National Capital Region, the commissioning of the new rail line will be beneficial to Delhi’s commuters too.
