Tutor held for sexual abuse of minor girls

Delhi Police arrested a 28-year-old tutor for sexually assaulting his two minor disciples at Bhalaswa Dairy in northwest Delhi.

The tutor, Raj Kumar, teaches around 20 school children including 11 girls – all aged between five and 10 years – at his home in Swaroop Nagar Extension in Bhalaswa Dairy, said the police.

The issue came to light on Friday when a six-year-old girl refused attending the tutor class, said the police. Upon repeated inquiry by her mother, the little girl broke down and narrated the ordeal she had been going through, added the police.

The woman then spoke to other lady whose seven-year-old daughter too, studying under the same tutor, had been hesitating in going to the tuition. When the woman asked her daughter, she too told the story of sexual assault, said the police.

Parents of both the girls approached the police together. "The tutor has been allegedly sexually assaulting the two girls over a period of time," the police said.

The police is now verifying whether the accused assaulted other students too. "So far no other child has approached us with a complaint, but we are approaching the children to find out," the police said.

Police registered two separate cases of rape and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were registered against the accused based on the statements of the two girls. The victims are being counselled by an NGO.
