Days before she committed suicide, the AAP woman activist was in a tensed mood, which led her to take the extreme step. So far, Delhi Police have arrested seven persons, including AAP MLA Sharad Chauhan, in connection with her death. 

Fed up with the continuous demands of sexual favours from senior party colleagues, which the victim denied, they started torturing her mentally by sending threat letters and close surveillance at her beauty parlour. 

According to police, she used to cry in front of her daughters saying the accused had made her life horrible. The accused used to send men to her beauty parlour to threaten her. They used to send her messages written with black wax saying she has to face dire consequences. She had also filed an FIR against the accused after which they started sending her threatening letters written with black wax. Some men on motorcycyles also used to roam around her beauty parlour after which she went in depression. 

"She was almost like a single mother parenting her two little daughters by earning herself. She had no support system," police said, adding that the deceased was a self respecting woman who wanted to live a life of dignity. 

The woman also tried to complain against the accused to party high-ups and one day she was called to the office of a senior party member where the main accused was present. In the office, the senior party member asked Ramesh Bhardwaj to say sorry to her he did the same thing. But the woman was not happy. She had told the party member that the accused had defamed her in Narela area and he should say sorry in front of many party members. At that time, the woman was assured that Bhardwaj will do the same. Police claimed that the accused decided to take vengeance and made her look like the vamp who is extorting and blackmailing. They made her life so miserable that she was left with no other option but to die leaving behind her two innocent daughters. 

"They made concocted CDs full of lies of demands of money and flat. Till the end, she begged for justice and she was let down by everyone. She got was torture threats, harassment, defamation and depression," police said. 

The woman was illiterate but in her whatsapp messages or other messages she had named the accused for harassing her. When a police official was asked whether she took the name of the MLA, the he said that she wrote the LMA (in sic) in the whatsapp messages. 

The main accused Bhardwaj was very close to the Narela AAP MLA as he had helped Chauhan to win the election and in return, Bhardwaj was made a member of the School Management Committee. After the woman denied sexual favours of the main accused, he started threatening her saying "you have denied the demand of a person who is very close to the MLA and settles big deals in this area and now you have to face dire consequences," said a police official.

The accused used to threaten him that they will kill her daughter. The woman also visited the house of the Chief Minister where she was told that she had to follow protocol to meet him. The woman was also cheated by a man Mohan Verma who claimed that he was with her but worked for the MLA and even an assistant sub inspector Mukhtiyar Singh took every possible step to make the case weak against the accused.

"The ASI might have taken bribe from the accused persons to make the case weak," police said. Sources also claimed that during investigation, police may call many senior party leaders for questioning.
