Piyush Mishra lights up DIQTFF 2016 on Day 1

The Delhi International Queer Theatre and Film Festival (DIQTFF) started on an exciting note at the NCUI Auditorium & Convention Centre here on Saturday as legendary actor/storyteller Piyush Mishra graced its opening.
The two-day event will showcase selective films and theatre work based on the LQBTQI community in India. DIQTFF got a great support as Bollywood actors like Kalki Koechlin and Kunal Kapoor promoted the event earlier through a video message. Besides this, the grand opening by Mishra, who acclaimed recognition for his intense acting in films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Gulaal, illuminated the event further.
“Such initiatives are good for the society. I am feeling very happy to be a part of this festival. See, they (LGBT) are so loving, so humble. They are harmless and a part of this nature. Although they struggle a lot between this tussle of nature and the society, they’ll have to keep a fighting spirit through such initiatives,” Mishra told thestatesman.com at the sidelines of the event.
Organised by Harmless Hugs and Love Matters India, DIQTFF was further graced by Impulse India brand ambassador Prince Manvendra and Asmita Theatre Group director Arvind Gaur.
A photo exhibition by Katharina Domscheit D’souza from PEPPINA art, Pushing Boundaries was an additional delight for the visitors. Besides, a free HIV testing and health awareness camp was organised by Impulse India, Project Samarth and Hamsafar Trust.
