Asian Champions Trophy: India decimate China to seal semi-final spot

A brilliant display of hockey by Akashdeep Singh and Jasjit Singh Kular helped India crush China by 9-0 to seal the semi-final spot in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey in Malaysia on Tuesday.

India displayed a superb performance over the Chinese players and dominated right from the start. The Indians were 4-0 up in the half-time.

In the second half India upped the ante and the goals rained. The quick counter-attacking flair of the Indians came to the fore as India found it easy.

PR Sreejesh-led team scored goals through Akashdeep Singh ninth and 39th minutes Affan Yousuf 19th Jasjit Singh Kular 22nd and 51st Rupinder Pal Singh 25th Nikkin Thimmaiah 34th Lalit Upadhyay 37th Devinder Walmiki 41st.

With this win India moved to the top of the standings with 10 points from four matches. They face Malaysia in their final round-robin match that could decide the top placed team before the knockouts. The hosts have nine points from three matches and are second on the table.
