Siliguri, 31 October: North Bengal development minister Mr Gautam Deb today disclosed that the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) had failed to make up its huge deficit owing to an abnormal hike in diesel prices. The NBSTC authorities have estimated a deficit of Rs 70 crore per year.
Mr Deb, who was the chairman of the NBSTC, held its board meeting at his office of the north Bengal development department in Siliguri today and chalked out several plans to rejuvenate the transport corporation by utilising several land and property lying idle across Bengal, including Ultadanga depot in Kolkata. Mr Deb said after the meeting that the ‘revenue gap’ of NBSTC was estimated at Rs 6 crore. SNS
