Giriraj’s call for review of ‘minority’ raises storm

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who had once stirred the hornet's nest when he asserted at a public rally that  those not supporting Narendra Modi for prime minister should go to Pakistan, was again in the eye of the storm when he suggested that there was a need to review the definition of 'minority' in the country.

“We need to have a relook at the definition of minority tag given to the Muslims having a population of over 20 crores in the country,” he said on Wednesday during a programme at Kashi Hindu University.

“The places where they (Muslims) are in large numbers as well as where they are less in number…at both places they are called minority,” he said.

Giriraj Singh also spoke on abduction of two brothers residing in the national capital, claiming that Bihar had become a den of criminals and was limping towards “jungle raj” again. The brothers were rescued in Patna following a joint operation by Delhi and Bihar police.
