Mulayam rules out Third Front

KOLKATA, 30 JUNE: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today ruled out the formation of a Third Front comprising non-Congress and non-BJP parties before the 2014 Lok Sabha poll results, even though he said he was “on excellent terms” with Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee. He was in the city on a private programme and sent one of his senior party leader to Alimuddin Street to meet the CPI-M leadership.
When his views were sought on the proposal of the Trinamul chief on the formation of a Federal Front of non-Congress and non-BJP regional parties, Mr Yadav said: “Whenever the idea of a Third Front was thrown up in the past, it was always after LS results were known. Neither the Congress nor the BJP will be in a position to form the government at the Centre after the next election, whereas regional parties like the SP would win a reasonable number of seats and would be in a commanding position." sns
