Value addition will benefit country’s farmers: Modi

Highlighting the significance of value-addition farming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said when a farmer produces something the entire country has to be a market.

Addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh’s capital of Raipur on the statesrsquo; 16th foundation day Modi praised Chief Minister Raman Singh for taking up initiatives that enable value addition for farmers.

ldquo;Value addition always helps the farmer. Glad to see Chhattisgarh has taken up initiatives that enable value addition for farmers. When a farmer produces something the entire nation has to be the marketrdquo; Modi said.

Value-added agriculture entails changing a raw agricultural product into something new through packaging processing cooling drying extracting or any other type of process that differentiates the product from the original raw commodity.

He further said that Chhattisgarhsrsquo; efforts to ensure development will greatly benefit future generations.

ldquo;When I say the Government has taken up work on skill development in a big way who does this help? It helps poor enhances their dignity. The impact of the development initiatives will benefit generations to come in Chhattisgarhrdquo; he said.

ldquo;Chhattisgarh shows the way and demonstrates how a relatively smaller state can scale new heights of development. For 13 years Raman Singh ji has got the opportunity to serve the people of Chhattisgarh and create an atmosphere of developmentrdquo; he added.

The Prime Minister reached Chhattisgarh on Tuesday to take part in the foundation day celebration and will launch ‘Saur Sujala Yojana’ which aims to provide solar pumps to 51000 farmers for irrigation.
