The ‘feel good’ fashion mantra

Mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairest… The Queen could have shattered that mirror and never got to hear another name and lived happily in the illusion that she was the fairest. Or whoever invented the mirror? Why do we even have to look at ourselves and feel good or bad about what we see in the mirror… Well blame it on human nature.

And, no, it is not just woman. Vanity thy name is all. Men, women, young and old, who in the world does not want to look good. Of course, some are born lucky and blessed with good looks. Although beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, it's a constant effort for many to look good. If not the fairest or the most beautiful, all want to look good. And sure it's not impossible. Everyone can.

One is spoilt for choice that are a plenty in the ever-expanding and evolving markets for clothes and beauty products. And with new inventions and technology for beauty treatments there are great many ways to not only look good but also glamorous, smart and beautiful. There are number of things and tips to give you the perfect style and even a complete makeover. However, nothing you do can help you completely if you do not feel good. So the mantra is feel good. Your face is your mirror. It reflects how you feel. Although looks can be deceptive, what you feel shows on your face.

Feel good and look good. Look good and feel good. What comes first. Is it a paradox? Well to look good one must feel good. To feel good one must feel comfortable. Are you comfortable in what you are wearing be it the clothes the perfume or even the tiniest of clip in your hair. The feel good factor is so important when it comes to dressing up. No matter how well a shirt or a dress fits you, no matter what brand or designer-wear or how expensive are the clothes or shoes you wear, it gives you away when you don't feel comfortable in them. All that worry and edginess in wearing uncomfortable stuff shows on your face, in your walk and in your body movement. It plays on your mind – mood and expression. And all your effort – time energy money – to look good fall away wasted.

As much as a comfort level in a relationship between two people is required, the relationship between you and the things you wear needs maximum comfort and care. As in any relationship, many things make up the feel good factor.

The dress, design, pattern, print, colour, and size matters. All these should suit your complexion, body, shape, height and weight and the cut of your face.

The right match also matters. The shirt and trouser or the top and skirts or the shoes, bags and accessories. Also, the colour and shades of your make-up, nail paint and jewellery. The colour of the things you wear should match or complement each other.

Not only clothes, but also every little thing you wear reveals a lot about you and your personality. So sometimes clothes and make-up that doesn't go with your personality can make you feel uncomfortable.

Wearing the right clothes for an occasion and places is important. Give attention to casuals and formals, office wear, travel wear, beach wear, party wear, etc.

Don't forget the perfumes and sprays. Fragrance they say is the essence of beauty. So wear good sprays and perfume. Smell good and feel good for that pleasant look on your face.

Also be conscious of the trend and fashion. While simple clothes can make you comfortable, out-of-date dresses can make you feel out of place and uneasy. However, you may look bad even in the trendiest outfits, hairstyles or beauty products if they don't suit you and you don't feel comfortable. So try to strike a balance. Wear comfy clothes and shoes and feel good for that right poise, confidence and a beautiful you.
