Zeliang urges people to support the Government in taking Nagaland ahead

Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang on Monday called upon the people to extend cooperation and support to the government in taking the state towards development and progress.

Inaugurating the newly constructed 3km exit road of Kisama Naga Heritage village at the view point along the route between Phesama and Kisama, Zeliang lauded Phesama village for giving the land free to the government for the road.

He said to provide drinking water for the people of the state capital, the government has also been approaching villages.

"Land holding system of the Naga people is different, but if we go ahead with such spirit of sacrifice for the welfare of the people, development, progress and dreams of the smart city is achievable," he said.

"Development is important, but joint efforts should also be made by the department and villagers to regenerate the natural beauty of the area by planting trees of different species along the roads," the Chief Minister said.

Maintaining that the Naga elders should think of making the youth progressive, constructive and creative and not destructive so that they can lead the Naga people forward, he said the Union government has serious concerns for the Naga people and therefore, has recognised the uniqueness of Naga history.

"When others are serious about the Nagas, why should we take the back seat in coming together to resolve the Naga political issue," Zeliang added.
