Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne out for four weeks

Manchester City&’s perfect start to the season has been soured after reports have emerged that star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has suffered a hamstring injury and could be out for up to four weeks.

The Belgian international was taken off in the 82nd minute on Satuday&’s 3-1 win over Swansea City with a suspected muscle injury.

While the full extent of the damage suffered will be confirmed after Tuesday, when he will undergo scans on his leg, it is widely expected that the playmaker will be out of action for approximately a month.

With that news, the Champions League game against Celtic on Wednesday and the Premier League tie against Tottenham Hotspur are surely going to be missed. On top of that, he will also miss his country&’s World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Gibraltar on October 7 and October 10 respectively.

While he might be able to make it for City&’s crucial Champions League tie against giants Barcelona, it will be touch and go.

De Bruyne signed for City for in 2015 and emerged as one of the league&’s finest players in his first season, but has started the 2016/17 season in a ‘deep’ role under new manager Pep Guardiola.

His tally of two goals and six assists in nine appearances prove that he is revelling in his new position, and just reinforces the fact that his absence will be keenly felt.
