Pogba debuts but Ibrahimovic stars in easy Manchester United win

Manchester United beat Southampton 2-0 thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic&’s brace in their English Premier League encounter on Friday night.

It might have been the  much-awaited debut of the world&’s most expensive player of all time, Paul Pogba, but his fellow signing Zlatan stole the show with a dominant display.

The first goal was a beautifully crafted move, which culminated in the Swede sending in an emphatic header past a sprawling Fraser Forster in the 36th minute.

Much has been made of how United captain Wayne Rooney will fit into manager Jose Mourinho&’s plans, but he and Ibrahimovic seem to be combining superbly, as was evident with his sumptuous cross for the opener.

And later in the 51st minute, when Luke Shaw was bundled over in the box, it was Zlatan who stepped up to take the penalty, instead of United&’s usual spot-kick taker Rooney.

Zlatan has truly hit the ground running, scoring four goals in three games so far, including one in the Community Shield.

Fellow new-signing Pogba was everywhere on the pitch, trying to do a little too much perhaps, but overall his presence was quite key as the Red Devils dominated midfield.

United were largely untroubled by a Southampton side, who are clearly still coming to terms with Ronald Koeman departing for greener pastures at Everton in the summer.

Things are looking good for the Old Trafford faithful as Jose Mourinho has got his first clean-sheet as his side continue their excellent start to the season.
