World No.2 Novak Djokovic splits from coach Boris Becker

World No.2 Novak Djokovic has split with his coach Boris Becker, completing a tumultuous year for the Serbian sensation.
Both player and coach announced their decision on their respective Facebook pages.
Together for three years, the legendary Becker helped ‘Djoker’ win 6 six of his 12 Grand Slam titles in a trophy-laden period.
2016, however, was a totally different ball-game all together as Djokovic lost his World No.1 ranking to arch-rival Andy Murray, after a horrendous second-half of the season.
They started well, winning the Australian Open at a canter, but after winning the one title that had eluded them, the French Open, there was a inexplicable loss of form.
The unheralded Sam Querrey upset Djokovic in the third round of Wimbledon, which was won by an resurgent Andy Murray.  And while the Serbian reached the final of the last Slam of the year, the US Open, Stanislas Wawrinka outclassed him to compound his misery.
And while the Rio Olympics didn't count in terms of ATP points, a first-round loss to Juan Martin del Potro made matters worse considering the 29-year-old Serbian is supposedly in the prime of his career.
Murray then beat Djokovic in the year-ending ATP World Tour Finals, preventing the Serbian from retaking the top-spot. The fact that the Scot, who he has dominated in many Slam finals, ended the year on top of him, was probably the last straw.
Djokovic’s message read:
“After three very successful years, Boris Becker and I have jointly decided to end our cooperation. The goals we set when we started working together have been completely fulfilled, and I want to thank him for the cooperation, teamwork, dedication and commitment. On the other hand, my professional plans are now directed primarily to maintain a good level of play, and also to make a good schedule and new goals for the next season. In this regard I will make all future decisions.”
Becker’s statement echoed Djokovic’s:
“After 3 very successful years, Novak and I have jointly decided to end our partnership!
The goals we set when we started have been completely fulfilled, and I want to thank Novak for having me as head coach of his team!
It was my pleasure to work with a person like him and I wish him only the very best for his private and professional life!”
