New establishment

The Union government has granted approval to establish two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to IANS reports, Union minister for health and medical education Bali Bhagat said, “Approval to set up AIIMS was received by the state government last month. The location of the two institutes has already been made by the state government at Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and Samba district in the Jammu region. A total of Rs.4,000 crore has been reserved for construction under the Prime Minister’s reconstruction package for the state.”
