Challan money

The odd-even car number exercise threw up quite a few innovative ideas, though most were not so practical. A colleague narrated how a friend, whose marriage anniversary fell on a "wrong" day had to take into account the fine he would have to pay. Since he had promised his wife he would take her out that day, there was no backing out. He also realised that he could be fined (challaned) just once. And so, when making arrangements, including budgeting, for the day, he set aside Rs 2,000 for the fine he would have to pay. On the anniversary day, he voluntarily drove up to the first traffic policeman he spotted and without any argument handed over the money, got the challan and zoomed off for the day.
