Dog breeders are notorious for their callous attitude towards dogs, exploiting them for the money they generate. Once a dog’s (male or female) productive life is over or it falls ill, breeders are known to dump them in various parts of the city. It is not rare to spot some good breeds roaming the streets in a pathetic condition. Since they are not street smart and are sick anyway, they have no chance of surviving. A colleague narrated how her neighbour, who owned a beautiful Golden Retriever, was seen walking an emanciated dog, which could barely move. On enquiring about the poor animal, the neighbour informed that the sick dog was also a Golden Retriever that he found on the road-side. The good man had brought it home and it was after much medical attention that the dog could even move out of the house. It had obviously been discarded by a breeder, going by the highly infected genitals and sores all over the body. Human callousness never ceases to surprise.
