Traveling is a healthy addiction. The more you travel, the more you feel the urge to travel further. It rejuvenates and refreshes the mind, body and soul. Travel is synonymous to exploration. A traveler is an explorer because he explores not only the new place but also a new self within.
Some choose a new place every time, spin the globe, pick a place and plan a trip whereas, some tend to come back to the same place again and again.
There can be reasons behind going to the same place again, may be because it feels more familiar than the last time or may be because every time is like the first time.
The leaves turn red, the sky turns orange, the wind turns cooler, the waves turn higher and the mountains turn calmer in the same way every time but we appreciate all of this in a different way each time.
The same old gigantic trees, serpentine roads, dingy shops, rising sun, cool breeze and smiling faces can be familiar and strange at the same time.
There is newness in the old. There is eeriness in familiarity.
A human brain works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, it senses familiarity in something that has happened for the first time, and that is called déjà vu. Opposite of déjà vu is the situation where everything is known yet it feels outlandish.
When you travel to the same place again, it might be as new as the first time. Even if you meet the same people, stay at the same place, walk on the same path and eat the same food, there will still be novelty.
Every time is a first time, and this is called jamais vu. A feeling where there is newness in old. The traveler does not recognize the situation despite knowing rationally that he have been there before.
We all have a favourite travel destination. Frequent trips to the same place and still not bored of it. There is always something novel that makes the trip memorable every time.
The people are the same and so is the place perhaps you are a stranger in the familiar land.
If you have never experienced a jamais vu then you must travel. Travel till the time it becomes an addiction.
Explore the known, feel the novelty, find the new and keep traveling.
