202 aftershocks in Nepal after April 25 temblor

As many as 202 aftershocks measuring above 4 on the Richter scale have rocked Nepal since the devastating April 25 earthquake, which killed over 8,000 people.

At least 36 tremors have been felt since another major quake struck at 12.54 p.m. on Tuesday which Nepal’s National Seismological Centre said was of 6.8-magnitude. 

The US Geological Survey, however, put the magnitude of Tuesday’s quake at 7.3. The major earthquake was followed by another massive jolt of 6.2 magnitude.

Thirty-six other aftershocks were measured below 6 on the Richter scale since then, with one at 10.33 a.m. on Wednesday measuring 4.6.

According to the Home Ministry, 65 people were killed and over 2,000 injured in Tuesday’s earthquake alone. Dolakha was the hardest hit district where 36 people were killed.
