‘Huge turnout indication of change’

Citing the huge turnout in the first phase of the election in the state, the BJP today said it  was a clear indication that people wanted a change both at the Centre and the state.

“This has made BJD president Naveen Patnaik extremely nervous and jittery,” said BJP spokesperson Suresh Pujari, addressing a media conference here today Pujari who is contesting the Sambalpur LS seat said the trend in favor of the BJP will continue in the second phase polls on 17 April. The Congress is relegated to the third slot while the ruling BJD has been pushed to the second and the BJP is upper most in the minds of the people, he claimed.
Pujari said the feedback received from western and southern parts of the state which went to polls on 10 April is that the BJP will do extremely well and be the number one party.

The BJP leader alleged that the BJD president Naveen Patnaik has turned desperate and is now playing the minority card. He claims to be ‘secular’ but his recent meeting with one K Paul does raise eyebrows remarked Pujari. Paul had met Naveen Patnaik yesterday and declared that he will mobilize support for him to be a prime ministerial candidate with the support of regional parties, charged the BJP.

The ruling BJD is panicked, it is trying every trick including engaging minority community leaders to boost its image. The flow of money and liquor has increased to salvage lost ground , he charged.
