Biman asks LF to prepare for by-elections

Iterating that the Left Front will go alone in the ensuing by-elections of Cooch Behar SC Tamluk Lok Sabha as well as the Monteswar Assembly seats Front chairman Biman Bose on Saturday was categorial that the Congress would have to find ‘its own way’.

quot;Left Front will have to prepare itself to contest the by-elections and Congress has to find its own wayquot; Bose said when asked if the Front would join hands with the Congress as its poll ally. Preferring to avoid the alliance issue the LF chairman said that the Front would field its candidates in the constituencies where it contested in the last election.

Incidentally the state Congress is divided on the issue of contesting the by-polls with a section of the party preferring to contest the election in alliance with the LF.

Briefing the media after the LF meeting nbsp;Bose said that the Front partners expressed concern at the outbreak of communal disturbances in some places soon after the festival period and urged the state government to immediately call an all-party meeting to discuss the issue.

quot;We also urged the state government to take stern action against the trouble-mongersquot; he added. About the mega carnival at Red Road on Friday with Durga idols at the instance of the chief minister the LF chairman said quot;It was a blatant misuse of public money and an open display of governments utter disregard of secularism which is totally uncalled for.quot;

Bose also criticised the state governments move to organise food festival stating that when the tea garden workers are facing starvation deaths in North Bengal holding such festivals will only unmask the ruling partys indifference on vital issues.
