After dengue claimed the lives of two school students in Bidhannagar, the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to cleaning up campuses and spreading awareness in schools.
The civic body held a meeting with the representatives of schools located within Salt Lake and outlined their action plan for the next couple of days to curb breeding of mosquitoes in school campuses.
“We had called a meeting with the authorities of different schools, both government and private, and asked them to abide by certain directives so as to keep the campus clean,” Pranay Kumar Roy, member mayor-in-council, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, informed.

He added, “Around 12 schools of Salt Lake came forward and they were given instructions to keep their compounds clean for the benefit of the students studying there.”
The civic officials will visit all schools from Monday and take necessary steps if mosquito larvae are found in the compounds of these schools,the civic authorities informed.
Meanwhile, the school whose two students died of dengue last week will remain closed for more than a week. After the guardians protested outside the school against the school authorities’ negligence on the issue of maintaining hygiene within the school campus, the school has been shut for a week.
The school will only open after getting a “fit certificate” from the civic body, civic body officials informed. The parents have been asked to inspect the school campus on Monday.
