Kolkata metro railway took up a cleanliness drive on Wednesday as a part of the ‘Swachh Rail — Swachh Bharat– Swachhta Saptah’, a week-long programme that began on 17 September.
A comprehensive cleanliness awareness campaign was initiated at Esplanade metro station where Swami Amalatmanandaji Adhyaksha Maharaj and Swami Shivapremananda Maharaj of Ramakrishna Math, Yogodyan spoke regarding the importance of cleanliness.
MC Chauhan, general manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata, in his speech stressed upon cleanliness in trains, stations and metro premises for maintaining a healthy environment. A mime show and a Nukkad drama were also staged to create awareness among passengers about the importance of cleanliness.
