GJMM to hold talks with TMC

DARJEELING, 12 JUNE: In a significant political development, the GJMM leadership has planned to hold a meeting with the Trinamul Congress leadership regarding the rural polls in the Dooars.
The GJMM president, Mr Bimal Gurung, said: “Regarding the upcoming panchayat elections at Dooars the party will hold talks with the TMC.”
He, however, did not mention if the talks would be regarding the sharing of seats with the Trinamul in the three-tier panchayat polls.
The GJMM leaders, including Mr Gurung, would be heading for the Dooars after 17 June, the last date of withdrawal.
“The GJMM has formed an alliance with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for the sharing of seats in the Dooars poll,” Mr Gurung said and asserted that the relation with the splinter faction of Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikash Parishad lead by its leader Mr John Barla is the same as earlier.
“Maybe the ABAVP faction led by John Barla is in alliance with the TMC within the town area of Dooars but this has nothing to do with our relation with the leaders and the faction,” added Mr Gurung.
Further, it has been learnt from Mr Gurung, that more than 400 candidates of the GJMM has filed their nominations, cumulating for all the three-tier panchayat election at Dooars. sns
