Malda, 5 February
Passengers today vented ire on the railway authorities after the Malda-Cooch Behar DMU train was delayed for nearly an hour. Passengers at the Malda town station claimed such delays have become an daily affair, testing their nerves.
The train was supposed to leave Malda station at 8.10 am. But as it did not move even at 9 a.m., the impatient passengers barged into the room of the assistant station manager, demanding clarification on the delay.  They said hundreds of passengers, bound
for  their work places at Samsi, Ratua, Haarischandrapur and other areas are banking almost solely on the train. The passengers
demanded that the railway
authorities maintain the time table by sending the train on time. Though the railway authorities remained tightlipped it is learnt from the railway sources that the train got delayed today as the wheels of a goods train got jammed on the tracks. The goods train had to be pulled back to clear the tracks. The DMU train  finally left the station around 9.20 a.m.
