A woman was allegedly raped and killed by her neighbour, Ibrahim Sheikh, at Bamangram village in Kaliachak police station last night. The accused ha fled the area after the incident.Police sources said the woman, 28, married six years ago, and now has two children.
A woman from the locality, Sumi Khatun, asked the housewife to meet Ibrahim Sheikh last night. Her body with injury marks on her neck and head was recovered from an area at south Kaliachak today. Her family members alleged that she was raped and then killed. Police suspect that the housewife had an illicit affair with the accused. However, her father claimed that Ibrahim Sheikh used to “disturb” his daughter by making “offers.” According to him, his daughter was killed as she rejected all those
“offers.”
Malda SP, Rupesh Kumar, said police have begun a probe.
