RPF drive against drug dens in city

In January 2014, there was major recovery of ‘Ganja’, illicit drugs and banned mobiles of Chinese make all valued at Rs 7.46 lakh by the RPF, Eastern Railway. The RPF, Eastern Railway also registered seven cases with the arrest of nine people and the recovery of Railway property worth Rs 2.70 lakh. In addition to the above,  around 1,896 persons were prosecuted under various sections of the Railways Act.
In joint drives with the Commercial Department of Eastern Railway, an amount of Rs 59.6 lakh was realized as fine from travellers without tickets, luggage that was being taken without prior booking.
A special squad of the RPF unearthed a racket of fake currency notes with the arrest of a two-member gang, notes worth Rs 7.45 lakh were seized. Apart from this, 16 people, including 2 notorious drug offenders, were arrested under different sections of the IPC.
In yet another case, one person impersonating as a Railway official was arrested for cheating Rs 8 lakh from two people.
In a joint effort, the RPF and the GRP busted a gang of criminals who were out to loot trains at Madhupur, and three were arrested in this connection.
