Malda, 5 February: Two youths identified as Prashanta Roy, 22 and Mrimoy Roy, 23, were killed in a road accident on Tuesday night on the over-bridge connecting English Bazaar and Sahapur in Malda.
Locals said the youths may have been driving the motorcycle under the influence.
Malda SP Mr Kalyan Mukherjee, however, did not confirm if the youths were drunk when the incident happened.
He said the youths were driving the bike at break-neck speed and neither the driver nor the pillion rider had been wearing helmets. Sources said Prashanta was a student of Malda College while Mrimoy was a student of a private engineering college.
Prashanta died on the spot while Mrinmoy died in the Malda Medical College Hospital. SNS
