Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany
Great news for all Harry Potter fans! Well, here it is. After months of whispers, hype and tempting advertising, the ‘eighth instalment’ of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series has hit the shelves across the globe.
For those who have missed the whispers and the hype, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not a new novel. It is a play written by playwright Jack Thorne in collaboration with John Tiffany based on an original story by J.K.Rowling. She even dedicates this book to Jack Thorne.
The story begins with where the seventh novel ends. It is set 19 years after Deathly Hallows. Harry now 37 is the Minister of magic, a loving husband to Ginny and father to three young Potters- James, Albus and Lily.  Ron and Hermione are parents to Rose and Hugo. Draco Malfoy marries Astoria and has a son named Scorpius. The plot opens at the King’s Cross station, heading for Platform Nine and Three Quarters where Albus is about to board The Hogwarts Express. During his journey, he befriends Scorpius Malfoy who is rumoured to be the son of Harry’s nemesis, Voldemort.
Situations change for the worse when Albus finds himself sorted in Slytherin House. In due course, Albus gradually realises that he is not ‘Harry 2.0’, but turns out to be ‘Harry Potter’s disappointing son’.
Three years pass within 15 pages as the Ministry recovers a stolen ‘time-turner’.
Several adventures follow, such as Albus and Scorpius using the Polyjuice potion to transform themselves into Ron and Harry to get into the Ministry and accidentally reviving the Dark Lord! Scorpius finds out that Hogwarts is now a dark place with Dolores Umbridge as its Headmistress.
Professor Snape enters the scene to help the two young wizards. After all their perilous adventures, Albus and Scorpius are finally convinced that playing with time has its menacing consequences and they decide to destroy the time turner. However, someone mysterious cases the time turner and later on reveals her true identity as the daughter of none other than Harry’s nemesis, the Dark Lord! Let the rest of the story be shrouded in dark mystic clouds until you read this fantastic book and retrace a path down to Hogwarts.
