Now, Delhi schools can hire retired teachers

The Delhi government on Tuesday authorised government school principals to hire retired teachers as per their requirement, a government statement said. Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia made the announcement during the annual day function at Mayur Vihar's Shaheed Captain Hanifuddin Sarvodaya Bal Bidyalaya. “If a school is short of teachers for any subject, then the school principal will no longer need to send the file for the appointment of teachers to Deputy Director (Education),” Sisodia said. “The principal can appoint any retired government school teacher of that subject,” he added. Earlier, the government had authorised school principals to hire estate managers for daily maintenance of the school premises so that work of teachers is not affected due to these responsibilities.
