Pitroda sees 8% growth soon
AHMEDABAD, 15 JUNE: Mr Sam Pitroda, adviser to Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, today expressed confidence that the country will regain the growth rate of eight per cent soon. “The Union Government is doing its job. For the last ten years, we have been continuously clocking eight per cent growth. Though it has gone down this year, we’ll be able to catch up as soon as possible and achieve the same growth rate,” Mr Pitroda said on the sidelines of a function here. On Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being projected as the probable Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP, he said, “I love everybody. But I’ll not comment on any individual. I wish everyone the best and I work with chief ministers of all the states.” "The Central government has introduced Right to Information Act, Unique Identification Authority, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and is working on electronic fund transfer. SBI to open 8 branches in Tripura
AGARTALA, 15 JUNE: State Bank of India (SBI) will open eight new branches and 63 new ATM counters and increase the Credit Deposit (CD) ratio to give more service to the customers in Tripura, official sources said today. Chairman of SBI, Pratip Chowdhury, yesterday met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and assured that the CD ratio would be increased to 50 per cent by the next fiscal and eight new branches and 63 new ATM counters would be opened in the state. At present the CD ration is about 34 per cent. Mr Sarkar requested Mr Chowdhury to open more branches in the rural areas, especially in the tribal areas. pti
Statutory bank branch audit limit
NEW DELHI, 15 JUNE: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India today said concerted efforts are being made to convince the government to reduce the statutory bank branch audit limit to Rs 6 crore in public interest.The ICAI said in a release that it would like to clarify media reports that the present limit for statutory bank branch audit is still Rs 20 crore (of advances) and not Rs 50 crore. pti
