Nifty closes above 7700, Sensex jumps 333 pts

Indian bourses closed Monday&’s trading session with sharp gains amid positive global equity markets.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ended 333 points higher at 25,282 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended 100 points up at 7,704.

Broader markets also closed in line with key benchmark indices. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices ended higher around 1.4 per cent each.

All the BSE sectoral indices closed in the positive territory, with Capital Goods index leading the gains, up 2 per cent.

Top five gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Hindustan Unilever (up 3.9 per cent), State Bank of India (up 3.1 per cent), L&T (up 2.7 per cent), HDFC (up 2.4 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 2.3 per cent).

Top five losers in the Sensex-30 pack: Asian Paints (down 2.6 per cent), Lupin (down 1.5 per cent), Bhel (down 1.2 per cent), Hero Motocorp (down 1.1 per cent) and Gail (down 0.6 per cent).
