Nifty slips below 8,000 mark; SBI, Power Grid, M&M lead losers

Continuing the declining trend, domestic equity markets were trading with cuts in the second hour of trade on Monday amid mixed global cues and demonetisation concerns.
 
At 10.45 am, the Sensex at the BSE was trading 280 points down at 27,870 while the Nifty at the NSE was trading 100 points lower at 7,974.
Broader markets underperformed the benchmark indices, BSE Midcap index slumped 1.9 per cent while Smallcap index shed 2.1 per cent. 
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Realty index declined the most, down 3.2 per cent, while IT index became the gainer, up 0.2 per cent. 
On Friday, the Sensex had closed 77 points down at 26,150 and the Nifty had ended six points lower at 8,074.
Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Wipro (up 0.8 per cent), TCS (up 0.4 per cent), ONGC (up 0.2 per cent), Infosys (up 0.1 per cent) and Gail (up 0.1 per cent).
Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: SBI (down 3.1 per cent), Power Grid (down 2.7 per cent), M&M (down 2.5 per cent), Tata Motors (down 2.5 per cent) and Tata Steel (down 2 per cent).
Meanwhile, the Rupee remained below the 68 mark, down 10 paise at 68.23 against the US Dollar.
