Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali fined Rs.11 lakh for misleading ads

Five production units of Patanjali Ayurved, owned by Baba Ramdev, were slapped Rs.11 lakh fine for misbranding and misleading advertising of its brand products.
A local court bench in Hardwar, headed by ADM Lalit Narayan Mishra, asked the Indian FMCG company to pay the fine within next 30 days.
Patanjali was held guilty of selling others’ manufactured product under its own label.
In 2012, the District Food Safety Department had filed a case against Patanjali after its samples of mustard oil, salt, fruit jam, and honey products failed quality tests.
The court said the company was booked for the violation of sections 52-53 of Food Security norms and section 23.1 (5) of Food Safety and Standard guidelines.
Patanjali has recently come up with boosted advertising, eyeing better revenues by the next financial year.
