The Rupee was trading five paise down at 66.82 against the US Dollar in late morning trade on Monday.
Fresh demand for the American currency from banks and importers pushed the domestic currency in the negative zone.
However, a higher opening of the domestic equity market capped the declines.

The Rupee had closed 14 paise higher at 66.77 against the US currency on Friday on the back of sustained dollar selling by exporters.
Meanwhile, the benchmark index Sensex was trading 90 points up at 28,169 at 10.55 am.
