Sensex jumps 303 pts in morning trade, Tata Steel surges 7.8%

Rebounding from Wednesday’s declines, domestic equity
markets started Thursday’s trading session with gains amid positive global cues.

At 9.50 am, the Sensex at the BSE was trading 303 points higher
at 27,556 while the Nifty at the NSE was trading 104 points up at 8,536.

In the broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices jumped
1.8 per cent and 2.5 per cent respectively.

All the BSE sectoral indices were trading in the positive
zone with Metal index leading the gains, up 4.5 per cent.

On Tuesday, the Sensex had closed 339 points down at 27,253
while the Nifty had closed 112 point lower at 8,432.

Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Tata Steel (up 7.8
per cent), Cipla (up 5.9 per cent), SBI (up 4.2 per cent), Adani Ports (up 4.1
per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 3.5 per cent).

Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: Asian Paints (down 1.6
per cent), HDFC (down 0.9 per cent) and Infosys (down 0.5 per cent).

 Meanwhile, the Rupee
was trading four paise higher 66.39 against the US Dollar.
