The Union budget will be presented on February 1. The date has been advanced by a month so that the entire budget process gets completed by March 31 as against June earlier, official sources said.
The government expects to get the budget passed by March 31 and wants to implement the budget proposals from April 1.
Apart from advancing the date for the next budget, the government will be doing away with plan and no-plan expenditure, replacing it with revenue and expenditure. Meanwhile, the pre-budget consultations for the budget have begun given that the entire process has been advanced by one month.
