Taking a dig at Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said "monarchs" living in palaces "hardly bother" about the general public and are "unaware" about their woes.
"Amarinder has scant knowledge about rural life as he loves living in palaces and enjoys the fruits of power," he alleged at a Sangat Darshan programme here.
Badal said that he unlike Amarinder had spent his entire life working for the well being of people and was well versed with their problems.

"Amarinder has a monarchical mindset and that is why he desists from meeting the masses," he alleged.
Claiming that several pro-people schemes and subsidies will stop if Congress or AAP is voted to power, Badal said, "These parties have a track record of being anti-poor and anti-Punjab. If any of them forms government they will leave beneficiaries of schemes launched by this government in the lurch."
Attacking AAP leader and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister said the Kejriwal-led Delhi government had done nothing "tangible on the welfare front".
He said the ensuing Assembly polls will be a "fight between pro and anti Punjab forces" and decisive as it "will make or mar the future of the state".
Badal urged the people to exercise their franchise with utmost caution as the future of their younger generations was totally dependent on their verdict.
Taking a dig at SAD defectors, he said, "Turncoats frequently shift their allegiance for the lust of power and have no stand on any issue. They are bound to go into political oblivion."
Describing former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu as "disarrayed and opportunistic", Badal said, "He will not have any impact on state polity and people have a strong disliking for opportunists and defectors, who back stab their mother party to fulfil personal interests." .
