Kumar Verma on Tuesday made a strong pitch for imparting education about road safety
to young children, saying their behaviour can play the lead role of
“sentinels” within their family and peers.
He made the statement while inaugurating the annual road safety exhibition
themed ‘Know road safety – Avoid road mishaps’ at the Traffic Pavilion at India
International Trade Fair 2016.
Verma emphasised the need and importance of road safety in day-to-day living.

He stated the main focus of road security should be on the young generation.
“Children are the future of this country. Their road safety behaviour can
be moulded and they can play the lead role of sentinels within their family and
peers,” he stressed.
The event was attended by senior officers of Delhi Police.
The exhibition, to be held until November 27, will have road safety video games
for children, nukkad nataks on the topic and many other features.
