BJP alleges nepotism in AAP govt’s appointments

Accusing Aam Aadmi Party of nepotism and loot, Delhi BJP on Sunday alleged that over 500 AAP volunteers have been given co-terminus and contractual jobs with the Delhi government at hefty salaries.

BJP claimed that an RTI query filed by an East Delhi- based activist makes it is clear that the ministers made arbitrary appointments.

"Most of these jobs have been created and given arbitrarily and while making appointments, even basic rules related to educational qualification have been violated," party spokesperson Harish Khurana told reporters.

"Over 500 that Aam Aadmi Party volunteers have been adjusted in the Delhi government’s co-terminus and contractual jobs at hefty salaries," he alleged.

He also cited variance in pay for appointments to similar posts.

"The Chief Minister’s media advisor gets Rs.1,15,000, while Tourism advisor gets Rs.1,50,000. Deputy Chief Minister’s media advisor gets Rs.85,000 while Law Minister’s media advisor gets Rs.60,000 and GAD Minister’s advisor is getting Rs.50,000," he said.

In the media briefing, Delhi BJP leaders Jai Prakash and Abhay Verma claimed that the revelation explains why the Arvind Kejriwal government reacts "violently" to allegations of nepotism in appointments.

They claimed that this also explained the frustration with which Kejriwal and Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) head Swati Maliwal have reacted to the allegations of nepotism in appointments at the commission.
