The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has said that it is going to build about 1550 studio apartments in Dwarka for retired government employees, a part of which would be reserved for retired Navy personnel.
Spread over 12 acres (48,000 sqm), the land has been identified at Sector-16, Dwarka, where apartments measuring around 550 sq ft each would be constructed. Nearly 10 per cent of the constructed area would be let out for commercial facilities. The facility would be constructed within a period of about four years.
"The project is the joint venture between DDA and Indian Navy and both have agreed in-principle to work on it," a press statement said.
"Earlier, the Navy had requested us for allotment of land for an old age home for its retired personnel. But, DDA has decided to tie-up with navy to make project," the DDA said.
"In the joint venture, ownership of land would remain with DDA, while, the maintenance of the entire complex, including security, civil and electrical works and medical facilities would be managed by navy, as they are experienced in it," the DDA added.
"Approximately, 200 studio apartments would be provided to navy. The remaining units would be available for retired central and state government employees, armed forces, teaching faculty of government universities and colleges and DDA employees of certain grade pay or pay scale," the statement added.
