Pay hike for DTC drivers

From September onwards, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) drivers will get a salary raise. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced that on an average the salary of contractual drivers will be enhanced in the range of Rs 2500 to Rs 4500 per month.

During the best performance reward function held at Talkatora Stadium, Kejriwal said Rs 1 per km is being increased from September for contractual drivers. He said drivers making trips of up to 2250 km in a month will get Rs 5 instead of Rs 4 while drivers driving beyond 2250 km in a month will be able to earn Rs 6 instead of Rs 5 which is a hike of Rs 1 per km.

Kejriwal said incentives for best driver, depots and conductors has also encouraged increase in revenue of the corporation.

Transport minister Gopal Rai said average earning per day has increased from Rs 22 lakh.

In March 2015, the average earning per day was Rs 2,21,05,980 as against Rs 2,44,01,555 in August. "In addition, Rs 68,52,85,378 was total earning in March as against Rs 75,64,48,213 (expected) in August with an increase of Rs 7,11,62,835," said Rai.

He said keeping in view the safety of commuters, specifically female commuters, 1500 marshals have been deployed in DTC buses and CCTV cameras have already been installed in 200 buses on which Rs 3.75 crore has been incurred.

"The work for installing the CCTV cameras in the remaining low floor buses is under process. Also, a project related to automated fare collection system (AFCS) using electronic ticketing machines (ETM) and smart card is under process and tenders have been floated for the same," said Mr Rai.

Keeping in view transparency in transfers and postings of employees of the corporation, “online transfer system” with no human interference has also been introduced, said Rai.

The awards for best performing depot went to Ghazipur Depot, Millennium Depot-IV, Hari Nagar DepotI, Hari Nagar Depot-II, BBM Depot-I, Nangloi Depot, Ghummanhera Depot, Wazirpur Depot, Ambedkar Nagar Depot and Rohini Depot-IV.

The top 10 depots were selected according to their performance during the period between 16 May and 15 June as compared to the same period of the previous year.

Parameters for assessment of performance of the depots are; average fleet utilisation, operational ratio, kilometre efficiency, driver productivity per day in km, vehicle utilisation, earning per km, earning per bus and breakdown ratio.

Two drivers, two conductors and two employees from other category of each depot were also rewarded for their commendable performance. The drivers were selected according to their performance for operating maximum km during this specific period.
