Police assure traders crime-free environment

The northern range of Delhi Police on Sunday organised a meet with the traders, most from outer and northwest industrial areas, to provide safe and secure environment for industrial activities. 

"The common problems identified during the meet were traffic jams and crime committed by the anti-social elements living in and around the industrial area and in slums and JJ clusters," police said. 

The police assured the traders that adequate number of police personnel would be deployed to curb the crime. During the peak hour, traffic personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic, the police added.

ACPs and SHOs concerned were directed to coordinate with the Industrial Area Welfare Associations in time bound manner. 

"The ACPs and SHOs have been directed to hold regular meetings with Industrial Area Welfare Association," the police said. 

Joint CP of Northern Range has been personally monitoring the progress in the regard. According to police, a comprehensive security review has been conducted in north west and outer Delhi, under the guidance of Sanjay Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Range. 

"Regular interaction with the members of the industrial areas including Narela, Bawana, Mangol Puri, Samey Pur Badli, Wazir Pur Industrial Area, Rajasthan Udyog Nagar, Lawrence Road and Industrial area GT Karnal Road and Shakti Nagar has been organised. The members were regularly sensitised about the security issues and urged to be proactive to support the police to strengthen the security of industrial areas," police said. 

The members of the association voluntarily came forward to construct police booths, installation of CCTV cameras at vulnerable points, engaging private security guards, arranging barricades and electrification of dark stretches. 

The police further claimed that a WhatsApp group of members of industrial associations has also been formed for sharing information and issues relating to safety and security in the area.
