Unidentified armed assailants on Monday night attacked the house of Deputy Jail Superintendent Anil Singha, who is posted at Bangarh Jail in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, around 180 km from Shimla.
Superintendent of Police, Una, Anupam Sharma told The Statesman that around four unidentified persons carried out attack on the house of Anil Singha at around 11.50 pm last night and pelted stones, however, no one suffered injuries in the attack. “We have registered a case in this regard and a hunt is on to nab the culprits who are absconding after the incident,” he added.
Sources said that the attackers also fired some gunshots in the air, though SP Una didn’t confirm the same. “There was chaos as Singha’s family members and neighbours woke up after hearing the commotion and gunshots. But by the time, they could realise what was happening, the attackers had fled from the spot,” sources added.
Police officials said they are investigating the case from all possible angles as the Deputy Jail Superintendent had denied that he had any personal enmity with anyone.
