Mizoram guv greets soldiers on Armed Forces Flag Day

Greeting Indian soldiers and veterans on Armed Forces Flag Day, Mizoram Governor Lt Gen (retd) Nirbhay Sharma appealed to the state’s youth to join the armed forces for the “ultimate sacrifice”.
In his message, Sharma said the day is observed “to renew our solidarity with the service personnel; to salute the veterans and the brave, and to honour the valiant heroes who sacrificed their lives for us”.
People should contribute generously for helping the people, who were dependant on the soldiers, the war widows and those disabled in the war, the governor said.
The governor also recalled that three of the five chief ministers of Mizoram — Ch Chhunga (ex-seaman), Brig T Sailo and Laldenga (ex-havildar) — were former defence personnel.
